The court is the right legal venue for persons charged with a crime a chance to defend themselves against allegations. The criminal justice system ensures that convictions are solely based on evidence, testimony, and the way the judge and/or jury perceive guilt and innocence.

The case is closed once a trial is concluded and a verdict is meted out. But there is still hope for the recipient of a guilty verdict to prove his innocence by going further and seeking High Court appeal.
